there will always be a sense of leaving everything to Fate and we must believe in the "mysterious"; indeed a legitimate call and a way towards consolation especially in face of a tragedy ...

but there is also a saying ... "pray to god, but tie your camel ..." connotating and denotating the need to use our sense awareness and perception and judgement based on a sense of scientific-ness in the way we act, and then comes the self-assurance that there will be a force bigger that us that will help as well .. Fate and Determinism ... has always been a complex question of the phenomenology of being and becoming human.

and then when there is, at least at this moment, NO EXPLANATION at all on the fate of the missing plane, whilst beings are determined to find out what happened, using the most advanced "search and rescue technology", aided by a multinational coalition of humanitarian effort, crossing borders, putting aside ideological differences to help search for an missing object seemingly lost .. like a pin dropping in an ocean of a thousand miles radius ... the question comes to mind?

could the plane have disintegrated in mid-air? (scientific explanation)
missing just like that as god has willed (religious explanation)

or there is yet another explanation phenomenologically political in nature: that there is something the public is not made known.

-- was the plane shot down as it entered unauthorized space of a foreign country? that the air force could not determine what kind of plane it is or will turn out to be? land space, sea space, and air spaces are bound by international law re: sovereignty of nations/states/nation-states ... just as how refugee boats are capsized and those trying to cross borders are shot ...

-- OR ... is the plane somewhere else safe and those in there held captive after being guided by "air marshalls" to a place yet to be made known? what might be the story behind this, "conspiracy-theory type of conjecture"? seems that information is released to the public with extreme care ... we are getting more information from the world and independent news agencies whose business is honoring free speech and the right to know and to information ... this is when the world needs wikileaks ...

i don't know ... but daily i am overwhelmed by this "inquiry theme of the phenomenology of the MH370" whilst lecturing on world issues .. issues ... issues ... issues .... including global terrorism and cyber-terrorism and bitcoins, Chinese workers producing iPhones committing suicide, and CEOs of Wall Street too committing suicide ...

sometimes our human mind vacillates between paradigms ... be they scientific, spiritual, supernatural, or cultural ... looking for explanations ... because we are pattern-making and explanation-seeking beings ...

in this case, Malaysia as a sovereign state is now under scrutiny -- international scrutiny big time ... it will be a good global lesson in everything, including the nature of human rights, national and regional security, political leadership, culture of security management, issue of religious fundamentalism, politics and ethnicity, political persecution, etc. etc. .... once the international media zooms in on a country, it will be an open court of more than just international opinion ... simply because we live in a global village with post-industrial tribes vying for power and control .... there is good publicity ... there is bad publicity ... but transparency is a necessity.
