Scattered Petals II
by azly rahman
in joy lies sorrow
and joy
and back and forth
till there is no end
nor beginning
in the drama of human emotions
i do not know how many times
a man can
be whispered unto him the passing on of a loved one
and still keep emotions as a
structured sensation
have i not become numb comfortably
i hope not
to the news
of yet another soul set free from distraught
have my tears not run dry
of that moment of recent past
of which i have chained my soul to be taken i and be marooned in an island the called mercy, in an ocean they chant the mantra of love?
o' love one who hath departed
you have waited for me
yet of another year of longing-ness we both know,
each tear of yours and mine
brings us back to the memories of two souls
born to care for each other -- you are the caretaker of mine essentially the story must be and have become
awaken I was to this moment in time only to be chained to yet another ship that shall bring me to where you once were there
in that world you have created for me
of serenity
of honesty
of naievity
amidst the chaos of what it was to be as a child wishing to become and to be at peace
ideally till eternity
i too have cried for you -- for days
many times i cannot remember
in what the world hath done to you
unbeknowest to you i may assume
in my solitude in my present moment in my age
i still cry for you
in what that world hath made you become
but cries of joy and sadness i cannot tell
only from afar i can see
in your suffering
in your suffering
in your suffering i too see mine
i can no longer cry
all is a perpetual sorrow as i see what could have been
a better tomorrow since i first met you
but cry no more we must
you have departed
with the grace
the silent pomp and pageantry
of a royal princess of a kingdom of a glorious past
still-- you do not need any of those to adorn your as you go
in peace
you are peace embodied
in your simplicity
in your serenity
in your naievity
only you and i understood
how you have become
as reason why i am here
and you are there
but together since the beginning of the story of you and i
we have never been separated
you are mercy in disguise
compassion springing alive
may you forgive them
and like scattered petals of the most fragrant flowers
you shower us with the love you showed
in your simplicity
serenity
naievity
you are love
from love you have come
unto love you have returned
free at last you are
i shall be there one day
and you shall tell me stories
like those times
things used to be
have i not become numb comfortably
i hope not
to the news
of yet another soul set free from distraught
have my tears not run dry
of that moment of recent past
of which i have chained my soul to be taken i and be marooned in an island the called mercy, in an ocean they chant the mantra of love?
