THE PERAK PLAGUE or, Should I too cross over for those millions of Ringgit? PDF Print E-mail

You will die satisfied that you have not sold your soul to any other party in whose ideology you actually do not subscribe to. These 'party jumpers' have no clear intention, just clear benefits for themselves.

A REPUBLIC OF VIRTUE

Azly Rahman
http://azlyrahman-illuminations.blogspot.com/

That is a two million ringgit question. Or maybe fifty million these days.

How much does one get for 'crossing over' these days? I do not know. But if there are millions of ringgit involved, this nation will continue to rot as corrupt politicians continue switching allegiances, getting appointments to good positions, and making horror decisions for you and your children.

We must destroy this culture and heal anew. There is no choice but a total destruction of this culture.

We were convinced things will be better after the elections. We were sure that the revolution was going to benefit the masses and no party hopping would occur.

We are wrong. Things are getting more complex, in a complex time of rising prices. As complex as teh root casue of the fall of the American Empire. As complex as the sheer simplicity of the sudden change of the Perak government.

I was once asked via email by a respectable party leader of a stat in the North for an advice: should he/she join this or that party.

This is my standard letter to anyone on the verge of party hopping for money:

Dear sir/madam,

Don't make this mistake.

Don't do it if it's for those millions and millions of ringgit. Stay where you are -- to be free, and speak up against internal party corruption. You will die a pauper but a wealthy person with well-nurtured and well-contented conscience.

You will die satisfied that you have not sold your soul to any other party in whose ideology you actually do not subscribe to. These 'party jumpers' have no clear intention, just clear benefits for themselves.

Principles not resource

If resource is the issue, think of how you can take your party to newer heights without more money. Make your party appeal to the younger generation. Know your party's roots and make it dynamic.

You may not have the money, machinery, and the media at your disposal as means to influence the masses, however you have the will. Focus on helping people and problem solving at the grassroots level. 'Small is beautiful'

Think about the 'class' struggle we are in. Prevent a generation of our children from the dehumanisation of a new class system. Worker rights and the rights of the poor and the opresses of all races need championing in this globalised economy.

Figure out how to deliver what you promised and will promise, and find your place in the party's equation. Phenomenological questions that can help you understand your existence and purpose. Without it you are just part of a game of hypocrisy.

Don't flatter yourself with state honours and your finer language. You are not meant to be a 'yes man/woman' for powerful people and make others beg for your favour. Politics is about doing societal good nor Machiavellian scheming.

A simple life is a virtuous life. Love others and commit yourself to doing good.

On the question of limited financial resources, here are some thoughts.

Leverage the Internet as a cheap and powerful tool of your campaign, while leaning on traditional methods of appeasing your constituency. Also the SMS system to mirror 'multilevel marketing' for effective campaigning.

Brainstorm with the young. Be creative. The greatest tool of human progress is the two pound universe one carries around - the human brain.

Past wisdom

The great soul MK Gandhi did not have much at his disposal yet he brought down the British empire. He was armed with a deep sense of spirituality and the principle of satyagraha. There is wisdom in teh story of the prophets and the sages -- those who are willed to spread the message of the Divine.

Prdinary people doing extraordinary things such as Ahmad Boestaman, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Dr Ismail, Onn Jaafar, Nik Aziz, Lim Kit Siang, V Rajaratnam, and others have shown us what dignity and ethics mean. Learn from them but enrich these concepts of ethics to meet the needs of changing times without losing sight and vision of political realism. Learn from the many around you who are not servants of money.

However if you are logically convinced that your party is on the road to destruction due to massive corruption amongst its leaders, then by all means leave! You have one life to live - make it the best life, for yourself and for others. At a time when we have entered the world of multiculturalism, do not revert to blind ideology of racism.

Ultimately if you take those tens of millions offered, sit in Parliament making decisions for our children, you will be a major crook who continues to rationalise his or her crookedness. You too will sink with the Bahtera Merdeka. The rakyat will help you sink with your fifty useless million, State honors, bahtera and all.

[OUR USUAL REMINDER, FOLKS:

the comments are yours;
present them rationally and ethically.

“Should I too cross over for those millions of Ringgit?”
You will be an idiot if you don’t cash in on us little bit
You’d have to acknowledge Najib knows better how to play this game
That even our “learned” ruler sided Najib means all rakyats are to blame

In fact:
We are delighted that our beloved sultan settled the tie
Perak is now truly the best state our money can buy
His high’s decisions absolutely, cannot be wrong
Because he knows it is with us, his self interest belong

As for Hee, her selling out created a miracle
She is now a rich BN, not just a poor DAP, cripple
With the millions that she has been promised she’ll get
Even without principles and soul, she can now emigrate

Why should a cripple care about the State Assembly
When she is so enriched with all these BN money?
The real question is "What can RM10 million buy?"
Here are some very quick observations, on the fly:

RM 10 mill can cure Jamaluddin of all his “back problem”
With a cash straightened back, his political career will blossom.
If Mohd Osman was previously feeling rather “unwell”
The millions of spare change, should make him feel really swell

Nasarudin Hashim is an example of UMNO’s best
To get his services, you have to pass the money test
Ha, ha, you PKR numbskull believed every word he said
Everything he did so far was all UMNO “semua-nya OK’d”

The rakyat of Perak have been denied their RIGHT to choose their lawmakers due to the dubious tactics of our UMNO-led Barisan Nasional leaders who would use money and favours to 'buy' the 'frogs'.

The time for the rakyat to show the strength of the PEOPLE'S POWER.

Good morning Azly, your write-up manages to calm a little my agitated emotions provoked by the devastating decision of the sultan. I was saddened and aggrieved by the beautiful picture I used to paint of an upright, disciplined ruler with whom my hope clinged on to to set free the rakyat from the demons with His untainted reputation as a former chief judge..

My adoration and respect towards a fine, cultured man is shattered beyond salvation!!!

God Is GREAT.......never forget that

And Sultan Perak is NOT

What riles me more is the constant defence of the Perak Sultan and his handling of this Constitutional matter.

UMNO-BN did what it takes to claim power and the Sultan of Perak had the Authority to Dissolve Parliament BUT DID Not. Sultan Azlan and Nazrin are to be Blamed & anger should be directed to them without causing Sedition. There is no 2 ways about it.

We can All Wear Black on Merdeka Day and also during his Highness Birthday or Every Friday to Show Rakyat's anger.

ALL Perakians should START Flying BLACK Flag everywhere. Rakyat have always been BOSS.

To Hell to all those Yellow Crap, Songkok protocol....the depression is coming to Malaysia. Get ready as it can get Worst than the 87 Crisis.....we know what happen then. Malaysia is Heading towards Zimbabwe and Bankrupt. Move money to Foreign Banks QUICK!!

The so called Royal Voice of the People have destroyed the hopes of the Nation.

I can say only Raja Petra is the remaining Royal Voice of the nation that deserve some respect.

Hey guys... let's not be too hasty with our thoughts about the Sultan.
It really isn't his fault. He has to be impartial because he is the Sultan. He cannot take sides. He has to go with whoever has the majority of support—and right now that is BN. Why do you think Najib brought all 31 assemblymen/woman with him when he went to menghadap the Sultan??? It is so they can officially state their support for BN!
To quote a friend of mine, The Sultan can only make a decision as his position requires. He cannot make it as a lawyer or a chief judge. To put it simply, his hands are tied too unless the 3 leap frogs' state assembly seats are emptied, and Perak becomes a Hung Parliament, then the Sultan call for a re-election.
It is not really his fault. The blame lies solely on the 3 dubious characters that have infiltrated PKR 1 Bota idiot.

PR should quickly go aroumd the three constituencies to collect names of the voters who prefers PR to represent them. The no. of names should be 50% more than the total number of voters residing in that area. Also the three areas in question are the most relevant but of course the more areas the better. This will prevent the cheaters to claim that they would win if there was an election now. This will also prove in black and white to the whole country that you have the support which will also be useful for the next election. Should"nt cost much as they have the man power.

(Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak has the power to dismiss his Menteri Besar even though the latter refuses to tender his resignation after being decreed to do so, a constitutional law expert said. However, the power to do so is not within the provision of the Perak constitution but from the Interpretation Act which says the power to appoint also includes the power to remove, said Prof Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi.*

***********************
Shad Faruqi, is just doing a "job" for his BN masters .... he's just a legal spin-doctor extraordinaire!

As much as I'd comply with His Majesty's decision, I cannot agree with it - and
Shad Faruqi's interpretation is as twisted as his interpretation when he said, that the Umno/BN "social contract" is in the Federal Constitution.

This is how I think it should be interpreted .....
What I say isn't meant in any way, to belittle the office of the rulers - just an interpetation of the law, from a "layman's" perspective.

We are a "Constitutional Monarchy", which is subject to the Federal Constitution, which is a "living document" - and do not live in a medieval Absolute Monarchy which practices autocracy.

The Law is Supreme - not Man!
Malaysia is a Democracy where it is the electorate that decides - the Rulers are supposed to reflect the desire of the electorate, and not vice versa. I'm sure that should be applicable where "Interpretation Act" is concerned .....
The interpretation clause cannot apply here, as the Legislature is the highest authority in deciding the MB, and not the ruler.
The Legislature decides on the candidate for appointment by His Majesty, and hence the Legislature should also decide where the "firing" is concerned!!
Should this not be the case, the YDPA then has the authority to fire the PM at his discretion as well, disregarding the parliament!

The Ruler's prerogative, I thought wasn't absolute - unlike in some nation in the middle-ages ... unless of course we've entered a time warp.
The interpretation has to take into account the Legislature, and is subject to the approval of the Legislature.

Whatever said and done, we know that the threat of an Emergency looms, should this crisis and stand-off continue - and I believe it is a very likely prospect.

What is happening today in Perak, heralds the scenario of things to come .....

Blame the politicians without integrity and credibility, not the Sultan, he was merely using his judgement, and really, he know exactly what is happening, better than any one of us in the public.
Being a past Lord President, he is not dumb or stupid, i have the highest regards for him and he is not stupid.
Let us wait and see what is in store, it is his state and his people, better than politicians who are little devils playing evil games with the people , i am certain he has the interest of his people at heart.

I wander how does it feels to sell your soul. I wander whether they can sleep well at night and eat well or not. And what sort of value they got to teach their children.

As for the Master who buys souls, he is the King of the Political Game. It must be great to have bunch of souls under his hand. He better wish he could live longer than his late father.
There are people such as Bill Gates who can get rich through proper channel and can donate all his wealth to charity. Why can't our leader think in that noble direction ?

We can enact the "anti-hopping law", but what if the MP or ADUN just resigns from his party and remain an independent as is the case now? As far as they are concerned, they did not hop(to another party). So the anti-hopping law is ineffective and will not serve any purpose as is shown by this present Perak case. The best way, to my humble opiniion, is still to go back to the people when a Government is unable to command a definite majority, or its majority is in doubt by its state assemblymen becoming independents.

BTW, taking a Sultan to court should not be seen as being disrectful or treachery. After all, a Sultan is not above the law, or is he? We are talking about the law, and if anyone has done anything against the laws, then he should be brought to court to answer. The courts of law should be the last place to resolve any situation, not the Sultan or royalty. After all we are a country governed according to a set of laws and the country's and states' constitution. The sultan is fully aware of this, I am sure. And I am sure he will not be insulted if an appeal is made to the courts regarding his decision, after all, I am sure the sultan will understand, as he was formerly a Lord President.

How can a politician, having subscribed to a political ideology for years, suddenly leaves and supports another ideology which is very much against her original party's ideology? DAP's and BN's ideology are at loggerhead. UMNO/BN is racist, discriminatory, and believes in the special rights of one race, and also believes in the master race principle. So can a member of DAP(now ex-member) changes her ideology in an instant? Perhaps, there is some truth in her being bought over.

How many millions? She will have to live with her conscience for the rest of her life. And every time she looks in the mirror.... Can she face her friends and relatives.... and look squarely at their faces?

But the Sultan had really no choice when Najis call all the assembly reps (28 3 so called 'BN friendly' indepents, of course, they have millions in the pocket and Hee even got her CAMRY as she wished), the sultan had little option but to follow (Najis told him, 'Remember, we'll get Tuanku C4'ed if our demand is not granted'), though it will be remained controvesial in Malaysia history (i am not sure this page will be written into history, or be erased, as they always did)

However, thanks to the Sultan of Perak, we now know, the Najis will do what ever to gain his popularity, we'll teach him a lesson in the Bukit Gantang!

She WAS bought over. A reliable source told me she demanded more than RM10m. And judging from her actions, she does not have any ideology. She was probably born with a big mouth and that stood her well in DAP. Unfortunately, not good enough for the PR alliance. She doesn't think others can be better than her. Her short-term gain will be her long-term loss. Her disgrace will follow through her generations, up and down. For 40 years, instead if teaching their own kind to "Learn to catch their own FISH", they took the easy way out to maintain their "False" sense of Security & Power by using the "Ketetuanan (BEGGAR)" policy - you vote UMNO, we give you "Fish" & the rot set in to what it is today & the beat goes on....!

For the others, "Either you are with us.....or else....you will be "MIA or Eliminated", period !

This great nation, its assets & its Anak Bangsa Malaysia have been abused for the last 40 years by these "Moronic Idiots & their Goons" through "Gutter Politics" & the "Law of the Jungle".

Through "Devine" intervention, UMNO, its Leaders & their Lapdogs are now "Destroying" each other with their "Power, Greed & Henious Crimes".

Our prayers to God Almighty seeking "Truth, Justice, Freedom & Equality" will be answered.

Every new day will be another "New Revelation" to reveal the "Truth" in its Self Destruct motion towards its "Demise".

Just give them enough rope to "Hang" themselves at every turn in their "Final" chapter.

May God bless, guide & protect this great nation, its remaining assets & its
Anak Bangsa Malaysia forthwith.

The day Sultan of Perak made that decision is the day I lost my hope to the only Sultan I respected since I was in primary school. I still remember when he was the Agong, I admired him so much for being a knowledgeable person and felt proud as a Malaysian to have a King like him. Now my hope shattered and I have no one to look up upon within the Royal family. In fact, I started to feel disgusted looking at them and started questioning myself, why the rakyat should continue supporting their glamorous lifestyle when they cant even fight for us. No more 'laungan' of Daulat Tuanku for me ever. smilies/cry.gif smilies/angry.gif
