These 3 gentlemen are definitely up there amongst the top but there are scores of others who are equally gifted players at least in the genre they excel at. For instance in jazz, we have Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Montgomery,Django Reinhardt, Kenny Burell, Emily Remler and many more. Not forgetting Robben Ford, Larry Carlton and even SRV.
And in rock and prog rock, guys like Dave Gilmour, Andy Latimer (Camel), Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore and Steve Hackett come to mind
IMHO it is quite unfair to rank any above another they all are great artistes and mostly write their own original material.
Disappointingly, they don't make 'em anymore these days.
