yes. african nations gained independence and freedom from colonialists. but look at them now. the sorry state of zimbabwe, the genocides in rwanda which now continues to congo, the child soldiers rampaging villages, blacks killing blacks for reasons related to tribalism and religions....

i shall not state the obvious and risk insulting your intelligence, given you obviously have studied edward said's works as well. all i can say is, rightly or wrongly, this clip is ever more impressive for the fact that he was an uneducated man, and taught himself in prison.

for all his faults, malcolm is coherent, open to opinions and discussions and i do sincerely feel, were it a feasible option given to him at the time - and remember, he was dr. king's peer - by an equal, he would have accepted it, much like his eyes were opened in Mecca.

Armed uprising only works when one has the upperhand or the might. While not always the right choice it is often the favorable choice given it's effectiveness in getting what you want. It worked for the US when they go the land from the British and natives, The zionist against the arabs, etc. If you cant wind decisively then all you do is just prolong the suffering and killing of innocent lives.
