Malaysian Parliamentary culture? Analyze this.

Watching this video gives me so many ideas on how some of our Parliamentarians have evolved to this stage, how much time is wasted in key national-level decision-making, and what then must we do to radically change the culture of debates. After 51 years of decolonization and given the ownership of politics, how have we evolved and what kind of culture have we created in our path to "greatness" and "world-classism"? I have written on this. In this video, a precious ten minutes is spent on asking each other to retract. There seems to be not much respect given to the chair of the debate. I do not believe Malaysian schools would allow this kind of debate to happen. In schools, Malaysians are taught the principles of debating and what to avoid. In schools, children are groomed to be good debaters so that the may run for public office and serve as Parliamentarians. What happened when they get to Parliament? Somewhere between being a school debater and a Parliamentarian, something happened in the case of many of those elected. What happened?

I think the chairperson should have asked the YB Pasir Salak to leave the Parliament proceeding. This man has wasted precious debating hour in the parliament. Imagine this is only one of the many similar cases.

Dr. Azly, the unbecoming conduct of the relevant representatives as demonstrated is not something new. The Opposition reps. are not alien to this vulgar and "monkeyism" acts. I've seen and heard it with my own ears and eyes for 3 years and I know there were many ocassions where worst words and language being uttered/yelled by the reps, mostly, sad to say, coming from BN reps. I can't help but to conclude that this vulgarity is now accepted as a code of ethics by the backbenchers.

My experiences thus far make me come to this conclusion: the character of a person is conditioned by his or her IQ, EQ, and SQ standing. The end result of any character is greatly conditioned and moulded by these three main factors.

Next, one cannot help but to ask this question: what is the level of this rep's IQ, EQ and SQ to justify him or her to be in his or her position now? These are the relevant factors that we must look at very seriously.

To understand the situation in the august house, one must examine the level of IQ, EQ and SQ of the representatives. It is important step to be taken because the representatives' intelligence, emotional and spiritual status reflect the general IQ, EQ and SQ of the people that he/she represents.

From that point, one can examine and ponder on the question whether or not Malaysians have reached the level of thinking of the first world nations.

i agree with you Dr.
even school kids can understand and would adhere to debating manners.
and not to mention realizing how valuable time is when their idealism is to be uphold...seeing the MPs doing this, well i guess they should go back to school..and join the debate club, maybe...

Dear Dr Azly,
This is BARISAN NASIONAL and this is the typical Malay Ketuanan Melayu, UMNO man.

Another Bung in the making. Another ignorant rubbish in the parliament and another fool to represent the people.

So who are the bigger fools?

I just want to say two things after watching this video. Sometimes I think we Malaysians can't accept criticism especially good ones. If it is true that people in Pasir Salak don't like you, you can either ignore them all because you can't make them all happy or work extra harder to win their hearts and mind with your dedication and work but not acting like a whiny kid, to put it in a polite way. Secondly, Malaysian politicians need to learn how to properly address other people especially when they have different opinion from you. You can't just utter all the big, fancy schmancy words just to make a point. It just leads to dissatisfaction and resentment. Eventually, it will be pure waste of time and energy especially when you want to get things done in your way...helooo
