It's hilarious!
In today's context, this is relevant to the Irish conflict or the Islamist Jihad with their suicide bombings.
It's probably directed at either of these ....
All organised religion, on attaining power uses "the power vested in them by God" exploit people to do evils of their bidding.
The Catholic church of the middle ages depicted, is different from from that of today only in it's sophistication - the results are really the same.
The other churches/ organized religions have a lot of catching up to do.
Sadly, the Islamic leadership appear to be losing out on progress, and see spiritual regression as "political salvation".
Hindraf in Malaysia is actually treading the same path - I wrote something about this (published in an earlier post on my blog), and got some unsavoury remarks on MT.
