Debra White Plume's unemotional, deadpan narration belies the profound seriousness of the problem of contaminated water. Any species that can continue to pooh-pooh the very real concerns of nature-lovers, environmentalists and community activists and dismiss it mere idealism is clearly stricken with terminal spiritual cancer. But can we afford to wait till these soulless profiteers die off one by one?
